I have been very busy the past few weeks preparing for Review LA. Printing a new portfolio, creating a new leave-behind, business cards, etc, etc… I signed up for nine reviews during Review LA, held at the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Monica, California January 14th & 15th. I have previously met with two of my reviewers at Photolucida in 2009, and one reviewer I met only in passing at FotoFest last year. The rest are all new to me. I am driving to LA from our very remote community in Central Nevada. I am more nervous about driving in LA than the review itself.
I am showing a continuation of my series “Where the Cowboy Once Roamed”. This will be the first time I have shown a completed body of work at a portfolio review. This series was all shot on Tri-X film through several Kodak “Fun Saver Panoramic 35” disposable cameras. I eagerly await sharing these images with everyone there.
Also at the same time, just across the street at the Santa Monica Convention Center Photo LA is being held. I’m looking forward to walking the largest photographic show and sale west of New York City. On the final day of Review LA they are hosting a party for all of the photographers. This should be a great way to network with art buyers and collectors that are attending Photo LA.
